Your EV is a first step. Now, where will you charge it?
Buying an electric car is one step. Choosing where you charge is another. A public fast charger draws from the general grid at peak hours, belongs to an operator that doesn't live on your street, and its tariff pays shareholders. A neighbour's charger runs during off-peak hours, often pulls from a residential solar roof, and its tariff rewards the person who installed it. That's citizen-powered charging: the kilowatt-hour is the same, the story behind it isn't.
- Charge preferentially off-peak, when electricity is greenest
- For every euro spent, 85 cents stay in your municipality
- No additional chargers to install, you use what already exists
No neighbour with a charger? Charge at a local business
When no private host shares a charger near you, charge at the chargers a company car park, hotel, shop or campsite opens outside its business hours. Same booking, same automatic payment, and always cheaper than public charging.
I'm moving in a few months to a flat with no EV charger. Thanks to PotatoCharge, I've already spotted three neighbours available a stone's throw from my door, as if the charger were mine, without the investment.
Frequently asked questions
How does payment work?
Everything happens through the app. You register your bank card once, and you are charged only for the energy consumed at the end of each session.
How do I get in touch with the host?
The host sets up access instructions in advance (charger location, gate code if needed) and you receive them upon confirmation. A built-in instant messaging feature lets you chat directly with the host at any time before or during the session.
What is PotatoCharge's commission?
PotatoCharge adds 20% to the rate shown by the host. This surcharge covers session traceability, secure payment, and platform maintenance.
Is my car compatible?
We support all electric vehicles equipped with a Type 2 socket (European standard). Check each charger's details to find out whether a cable is provided by the host.
